I Gotta Go 04:02
Dogs are howling Rooster crows Cats are prowling Jailer knows Soon be morning  I gotta go Sky is darkening  Rain coming down Keep on walking Get out this town Long way coming I gotta go Gotta get to somewhere else No-one to worry 'bout Just myself No strangers weighing down on me I gotta go Cars are passing Nothing slows All speed by me Horns they blow Don't deny me I gotta go Wind is blowing Dirt into my face Walking's hard In this infernal place Better keep moving I gotta go Gotta get to somewhere else No-one to worry 'bout Just myself No strangers weighing down on me I gotta be free City limits A new town Where they don't know me Might stay around But in the morning I gotta go

Big jocks gone now Got up and walked away He never said a word Just smiled and downed his whisky Ain't seen him for some time Hope that he's okay Big jocks gone now So come back another day First met him a few years ago  When I first came to town He stood me an ice cold beer  When he saw the sweat on my brow I'd been working in the shipyards Ten hours every day Just hammering plates of steel To earn some honest pay Big jocks gone now Got up and walked away He never said a word Just smiled and downed his whisky Ain't seen him for some time Hope that he's okay Big jocks gone now So come back another day Now I'm a big fella Stand over six foot three Yet when jock stood up beside me he was looking down at me His big hands were gnarled and calloused with arthritis in his bones But he still possessed a vice like grip that could've crushed cold stone  Big jocks gone now Got up and walked away He never said a word Just smiled and downed his whisky Ain't seen him for some time Hope that he's okay Big jocks gone now So come back another day Now I can't help from a-wondering Where he is on this fine day He'd be sitting in his favourite chair just over by the bar Holding court before him Like on a grand majestic throne  Then he'd start to play the jaw harp and give us all a song Big jocks gone now Got up and walked away He never said a word Just smiled and downed his whisky Ain't seen him for some time Hope that he's okay Big jocks gone now So come back another day You know I really miss him and the stories that he'd tell They sounded like they could be true. We'll never know so what the hell He never came back and as far as I can see  Old jocks gone now  It's just you and me Big jocks gone now Got up and walked away He never said a word Just smiled and downed his whisky Ain't seen him for some time Hope that he's okay Big jocks gone now Big jocks gone now Got up and walked away He never said a word Just smiled and downed his whisky Ain't seen him for some time Hope that he's okay Big jocks gone now So come back another day

Someday 02:23
Someday there'll be someone for me Someone who'll take me for what I am Someone who'll love me Surely there must be Somewhere there'll be someone for me Someday there'll be a place for me Someplace where I can be set free Somewhere so open wide that I don't need no place to hide Someday there'll be a place for me Someday when all is said and done Someday you'll find out in the man for you Someone who'll love you like no one else can do Someday I'll be your number one

Whiskey bones Will you tell me what you're thinking If I sit down beside you and listen to your songs Call him Whiskey bones Though that' ain't from the drinking There's just water in the bottle and the bones are all he owns. Used to be a man of some wealth and social standing Now his wealth is what he's wearing and he's as social as you get Call him Whiskey bones Sitting on the corner On a stool from out the bar room Where he's not allowed to go Whiskey bones Will you tell me what you're thinking If I sit down beside you and listen to your songs Call him Whiskey bones Though that' ain't from the drinking There's just water in the bottle and the bones are all he owns. Spent 27 years in service of his country In far away places he don't like to talk about Whiskey bones Still can't understand the reason To fight for things he don't believe in and take another's life Whiskey bones Will you tell me what you're thinking If I sit down beside you and listen to your songs Call him Whiskey bones Though that' ain't from the drinking There's just water in the bottle and the bones are all he owns. Was it good or bad he done He just followed orders Never questioning the fact if it was right or wrong Whiskey bones Living through the pain and sorrow of the memories that follow him around like a ball and chain Whiskey bones Will you tell me what you're thinking If I sit down beside you and listen to your songs Call him Whiskey bones Though that' ain't from the drinking There's just water in the bottle and the bones are all he owns. Now he just sits and sings and rattles them old bones Hoping for an answer to the questions in his life Whiskey bones Not looking for tomorrow Just drinking from the bottle In a world that doesn't care Whiskey bones Will you tell me what you're thinking If I sit down beside you and listen to your songs Call him Whiskey bones Though that' ain't from the drinking There's just water in the bottle and the bones are all he owns. Just drinking from the bottle And rattling them old bones Whiskey bones

In a little Spanish Cantina On the border of Mexico She served us up lots of Tequila Jim, Randy y Yo She was a beautiful girl Doing nobody wrong She came over with her brothers Who were working out in the fields Working to feed the others On the little their crops would yield They were so happy Doing nobody harm....... But that all changed when she sounded the alarm She went running out through the kitchen Out into the open fields When a cop let go with His hand gun Into her back 3 bullets sailed She was a beautiful girl Now the authorities knew all about it Tried to cover up all of the facts They said that they were all illegal From the truth they did distract They checked their papers Couldn't find nothing wrong Now they're singing the words to a different song All the lawyers and all the politicians Trying hard to set records straight Will soon have a new wall to climb over To talk to the land of the free and the brave She was a beautiful girl 3 bullets took her down But her name and her memory will always be part of this town En una pequeña cantina española En la frontera de México Ella nos sirvió un montón de Tequila Jim, Randy y Yo Una chica hermosa She was a beautiful girl

When the sun goes down and the twilight arrives And the moon takes over the sky I'll remember her face with a smile on my own Ain't it funny how things pass you by Road weary from playing and living apart From the one I cherished the most I came back from my travels to lay down my roots But my love didn't stay long enough She packed her bags and just went away So I picked my guitar up and started to play and started to play Back on the road was I yet again I guess we never did try To work out the problems that drove us apart Ain't it funny how things pass you by For years I've been traveling all over this earth Thinking only of myself Self-centred and selfish I may have been called By some girls and some jealous men Although I am lonely I try not to show the despair that sometimes makes me cry You still are the flame that sets in my heart Ain't it funny how things pass you by And now Ive come home To a damp and grey space That I used to call my own But the buildings have changed And there's war on the street And the prices of everything's blown But I'm gonna bide here and give it a shot Hang around and give it a try If I leave I just might live to regret it Ain't it funny how things pass you by. Ain't it funny how things pass you by.

Bus stop on a rainy morning heading off to work Warm summer rain is falling, folks complaining ‘cause it’s raining Why? – Tell me why? Why? – Just why? Working hard until the evening comes and I go home Children waiting, fighting, wailing Dog is howling, wife just staring Why? – Tell me why? Why? – Just why? ‘Cause Everyday’s A Monday Tuesday never comes Wednesday, it don’t wait for me Thursday’s on the run Friday’s always broken Saturday’s just burned Sunday’s time for contemplating Lessons we have learned Another morning, day is dawning, time to get on up Shower and shave and down for breakfast Ready for another Groundhog Day! Tell me why? Why? – Just why? ‘Cause Everyday’s A Monday Tuesday never comes Wednesday, it don’t wait for me Thursday’s on the run Friday’s always broken Saturday’s just burned Sunday’s time for contemplating Lessons we have learned ‘Cause Everyday’s A Monday Tuesday never comes Wednesday, it don’t wait for me Thursday’s on the run Friday’s always broken Saturday’s just burned Sunday’s time for contemplating Lessons we have learned

When I got home this morning, from working on the nightshift Could not believe my weary eyes as I walked through the door Nothing in the hallway, nothing in the Living Room, Nothing in the bedroom, Just a note on the kitchen floor It read that she was sick and tired of the cussin' and the fightin' Every day a quarreling, both right and never wrong Said that she was leaving she won't be here in the morning Guess this time she's got her way, she just had to move on Wallpaper and Paint, that's all that she left me Wallpaper and paint, no rugs upon the floor Just the dust and grime, and the smell of turpentine Wallpaper and Paint, all she's pleasing is herself She never left me nothin'. She even took my beer fridge, My laptop and my TV, and as far as I could tell My CD collection lay scattered in the backyard She even threw out all my clothes, my boots and tools as well. Wallpaper and Paint, that's all that she left me Wallpaper and paint, no rugs upon the floor Just the dust and grime, and the smell of turpentine Wallpaper and Paint, all she's pleasing is herself Wallpaper and Paint, that's all that she left me Wallpaper and paint, no rugs upon the floor Just the dust and grime, and the smell of turpentine Wallpaper and Paint, all she's pleasing is herself Now when I get home tomorrow, from working on the nightshift Guess I'll grab myself a beer and sit down on the floor, Ain't got no chairs to sit upon, or table to put my dinner on. Ain't got no plates or forks and spoons at least I've got my dog Wait a minute………Where's my dog???? Wallpaper and Paint, that's all that she left me Wallpaper and paint, no rugs upon the floor Just the dust and grime, and the smell of turpentine Wallpaper and Paint, all she's pleasing is herself Wallpaper and Paint, that's all that she left me Wallpaper and paint, no rugs upon the floor Just the dust and grime, and the smell of turpentine Wallpaper and Paint, all she's pleasing is herself Wallpaper and Paint, all she’s pleasing is herself It’s just a Bachelor Pad, I got nothin’ more to add Wallpaper and paint All I’m pleasing is myself
